This artwork was created by Dr. Michelle Ferrier in 2021. Titled “Guns and Roses: They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds” the acrylic/digital piece was painted at the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in the United States. The digital version includes the names of Black Americans killed by police brutality and violence, sprouting from the soil.
