International Women’s Media Foundation

iwmf_logo_lgWith generous support from the Craig Newmark Philanthropies, TrollBusters and the International Women’s Media Foundation have teamed up to conduct a study of U.S. journalists in 2018. The survey seeks to determine the effects of social media policies and activity on U.S. journalists.

Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe

Dr. Michelle Ferrier is working with the OSCE in Brussels, Belgium on the Safety of Female Journalists Online campaign as a trainer and consultant.


Committee to Protect Journalists

attacks-on-press1Dr. Michelle Ferrier wrote of her own experiences in Attacks on the Press 2016, a publication of the Committee to Protect Journalists. She describes being a lifestyle columnist in a southern town and the hate mail she received. Ten years later, Ferrier conceived of TrollBusters at a hackathon for women. She led an international team of female journalists to win one of the top prizes.


Stop Online Violence Against Women


Shireen Mitchell, founder of Stop Online Violence Against Women, is a long-time advocate for women in digital spaces and one of the virtual team members who helped support the development of TrollBusters.


Along with Intel, Lady Gaga and the Born this Way Foundation, TrollBusters is one of the inaugural partners of this antibullying initiative.
